Smithfields Market

Smithfields Market is the last surviving historical market in Central London, although the majority of the original buildings now stand in disprepair and have not been used for their original purpose for decades. Whilst looking around I was fortunate enough to happen upon a gentleman who had access to one of the old buildings as he stored his vehicles within it. He let me have a brief look inside, but was keen for me not to spend too much time in there. The architecture and decor within looked truly amazing, with many fixtures and fitting still intact. I have heard that the building is soon to be part of an ‘urban redevelopment’ which no doubt means that all of these original features will be demolished.
