Christmas with Grandad

Although Christmas is now a couple of months behind us, I would still like to put up these photographs as I enjoy how traditional my Grandad likes to keep his Christmas  gathering. Every year for as long as I can remember, we visit my Grandma and Grandad’s house on the first Saturday after Christmas. The evening’s festivities usually consist of a good party-style buffet (prepared by Grandma) alongside snowballs, little bottles of beer and occasionally WKDs (less so now that my sister has outgrown that phase). Following the banquet, there is usually some form of game. In previous years it has been Escalado (a traditional horse racing board game in which the horses really move!), ‘Wacky Races’ and various card games. This year Grandad moved into the 21st Century with a DVD version of a horse racing game. I don’t think it quite offered as much enjoyment as the more traditional version, but it was still fun nonetheless. Before the DVD however, we had a form of treasure hunt which consisted of a series of (very cryptic) handwritten clues which took us on a virtual tour of the local area answering various questions, boys versus girls. By a whisker, the boys won! It was certainly a challenge however. Roll on next year.
