New Spectacles

I just received my new spectacles, kindly given to me by the Chairman of Linda Farrow Vintage. They are a vintage pair of an original Linda Farrow style, dating from around the mid-70s.  For those unfamiliar with the name, Linda Farrow designed eyewear between the 1970s and early 1980s and was basically the first eyewear designer to collaborate with fashion designers, achieving notable success with Emilio Pucci. In the early 1980s, Linda Farrow had made enough money to effectively retire, and start a family. In 2003 Linda Farrow had something of a comeback when Simon Jablon (Linda’s son) started to sell some of the large amount of deadstock left in various warehouses around London, by Linda. The frames had become almost something of collectors’ items, and became very sought after. Seeing an opportunity, Simon decided to begin trading under the Linda Farrow name and start producing frames from scratch. Linda Farrow are now the biggest name in Fashion eyewear, producing their own LUXE range, alongside ranges with Jeremy Scott, Raf Simons, Dries Van Noten and Alexander Wang to name a few.

Linda Farrow herself, is still pottering around in the background, although these days she has no real desire to participate in the design process. I mainly have pleasant chats with her about day-to-day things whilst the kettle is boiling – glasses rarely enter the conversation.
